Open Out is a multi-agency project which offers support, advice and information to victims and witnesses of any Hate Crime or prejudice incident.
If you live in South Cambridgeshire you can report any Prejudice Incident or Hate Crime to them confidentially. You can also choose to remain anonymous.
Hate Crime can have long lasting effects on individuals and communities, it includes bullying, verbal and physical abuse, harassment, assault and damage to property. Open Out recognises that victims may be targeted because of one or more of the following reasons; their race, faith, gender, sexuality, disability or age.
Open Out will work together with you to make sure that you get the support that you need if you have been a victim of Hate Crime. If you choose to report the incident to the Police they can act as an intermediary and help you through the process. You can also report an incident online.
Open Out Will:
•Listen
•Keep a secure and confidential record of what has happened (which can be anonymous)
•Meet you in a safe space
•Help you to get support
•Help you deal with the police and reporting process
•Feedback your experience to the police
Open Out Will NOT:
• Judge you
•Make any decisions for you
•Tell anyone else without your permission (unless you are at risk of serious harm)
