The organisation was set up in 1958 by the then Welfare Department of the County Council to supply equipment to disabled people. HAD has grown a great deal in the intervening years and today are proud of the services they offer that help Hertfordshire’s disabled people maintain their independence and keep on the move.
The Equipment Centre, based at HAD's HQ at the Woodside Centre in Welwyn Garden City, provides a wide range of products and friendly advice for disabled people, their families and carers.
They also provide a number of other services, including:

A Mobility Centre, providing driving assessments and lessons;
A Counselling Service for disabled people and their carers by disabled people; tel 01707 384263

Information and Advice.
These services are available to:
People with disabilities living in Hertfordshire, as well as their families and friends;
Carers of people with disabilities;
Parents of children with disabilities;
Children with disabilities.
