Carers UK

Other or former names: Carers National Association

Description

Carers are people who look after family, partners or friends in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability. There are about 6 million carers in the UK. The care they provide is unpaid.

Carers UK is a membership organisation of carers that campaigns to improve services and support for carers. They provide information and advice via their free advice line, website and email query and can help with issues such as benefits and working while being a carer.

Their website includes information about ACE (Action for Carers and Employment) National which is a project led by Carers UK and funded by the European Social Fund's Equal programme raising awareness of the barriers facing carers who wish to work.

You can listen to monthly radio broadcasts reporting the latest news and developments of the ACE National projects. They also publish a magazine which you can subscribe to or download.

Carers UK provides courses for health and social care professionals, advice workers, employers, lawyers and others who work with carers.
