Housing and Employment Mobility Service

Other or former names: replaces Housing Organisations Mobility and Exchange Services, HOMES, HOMESWAP, Seaside and Country Homes, HOMES mobility scheme

Description

It aims to help tenants of social landlords and home-seekers find affordable rented housing and/or a job in a new area.

It has taken over the mobility services provided by HOMES, including HOMESWAP, Seaside and Country Homes, and the HOMES mobility scheme.

If you are living in permanent, self-contained accommodation and renting from a council or housing association and you want to move within the UK then you can register on HOMESWAP.

This is a register of people who want to exchange homes with people in a different area.

Private tenants can't use this service, but can search the database of empty council and housing association properties to rent.

If you want shared ownership of a property (where you buy a share of a property from a housing association and pay rent for the rest) you can apply to join the scheme and then view properties on-line.
