Different Strokes

Description

Different Strokes is a registered charity providing a unique free service to younger (i.e. pre-retirement) stroke survivors throughout the UK. It's run for stroke survivors by stroke survivors for active help and mutual support.

They organise a national network of weekly exercise classes, provide practical information for the recovering stroke survivor, offer a 'StrokeLine' telephone service so that younger stroke survivors can speak to others in the same situation, and keep stroke surviors informed of developments relevant to them. Their website includes helpful information about strokes and several downloadable factesheets.

Different Strokes also provides an important voice for younger stroke survivors to Government, service providers and funders, fighting for better standards and improved understanding.

They have a branch in Cambridge.
