Peter Le Marchant Trust

Description

A charity that provides day outings and holidays on waterways for people of all ages with any kind of disability or serious illness.

The Peter Le Marchant Trust was established as a result of a bequest by Peter Le Marchant to his sister, Clare. Clare wished to enable all groups of disabled people and those who are seriously ill to enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside in a leisurely way. Inland waterways proved to be the answer.

It has three boats from its Loughborough base. They charge for their day-trips and holidays, but keep this charge as low as possible in order not to exclude any groups. They are therefore heavily dependent on donations from Trusts and individuals to keep their valuable work going.
