Cambridge & District Volunteer Centre

Description

This charity has information about volunteering opportunities with more than 350 local organisations (charities, statutory organisations such as hospitals and social services and not-for-profit organisations). Its services are free of charge.

It:

- Matches people who want to volunteer with organisations needing volunteers

- Promotes volunteering to all sectors of the community

- Supports and promotes good practice in the involvement of volunteers

- Develops new opportunities to volunteer

- Comments and campaigns on issues that affect volunteers or volunteering

- Plays an active role in the strategic development of volunteering

It provides a service in Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire.

They have a Volunteer Drop-in Day once a week - see their website for details. They also run Exploring Volunteering, a free short workshop for anyone thinking about volunteering.

The volunteering opportunities are on the national Do-it website.

The Volunteer Centre does not screen volunteers or assess their suitability for a role.

For one-to-one confidential volunteering advice, please come to the Volunteer Drop In, currently every Thursday from 1000-1300hrs and Tuesdays by appointment only 1000 - 1500hrs.
