Other or former names: HAT
The Handicapped Aid Trust (HAT) was set up to make holidays possible for disabled people. It recognised that in order for many disabled people to take a holiday, they needed the assistance of a helper. HAT helps in the following ways.
Gives grants towards (towards - not all) the cost of helpers to assist individuals on holiday.
Gives donations for assisted group holidays, in partnership with other organisations. Awards are made twice a year, so applications have to be made before 1 February for summer holidays, and 1 August for winter holidays. Applications should be supported by a bona fide organisation, doctor or social worker.
