Description
The Emmaus project at landbeach was the first to be established in the UK and is fully self supporting by collecting, refurbishing and selling furniture and other household goods no longer needed by their owners in our shop, The Community is home to up to thirty people who were formerly homeless.
The community works closely with other organisations in the area to support those people who are homeless or trapped by poverty.
Emmaus is not an easy option - on joining the Community, Companions commit to working 40 hours a week, sign off state benefits and every one lives by the principle of helping others to live, grow and find dignity through sharing, work and self respect.
Emmaus also produces hand-crafted goods such as tables and dressers and assembled pine furniture. The Coffee Shop serves a range of beverages and light snacks in a friendly environment.
