Disability Cambridgeshire is an advice and information service for disabled people and/or older people and their carers. We serve people of all ages in South and East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and Cambridge City.
Disability Cambridgeshire is affiliated to and accredited by Dial UK and works in partnership with Disability Huntingdonshire (formerly known as DISH) and Cambs ULO, The Cambridgeshire User Led Organisation.
Cambridge City Council has just published a new Guide to Services for Older and Disabled People 2012 - 2014, produced in association with Disability Cambridgeshire and the Cambridgeshire User-Led Organisation.
The Guide was launched by the City Mayor, Ian Nimmo-Smith. The Friends With Disabilities group welcomed the Mayor to their
regular meeting at Cherry Hinton Community Centre, where the Mayor took the opportunity to publicise the new Guide.

AskSARA is a self-help guide that enables people to identify and purchase
equipment of their own choice that might help them in their daily lives. It provides
information on a wide range of equipment options, plus information on
manufacturers and local suppliers. It works by taking users through a series of guided questions and answers
leading to general advice and recommendations on what equipment would be
suitable to meet their needs. It provides information on local sources
of equipment - retail outlets, mail order and demonstration centres, and
gives comparative evaluations of different types of equipment so that
people can make informed choices about their purchases.
A list of topics relate to the difficulties some people may have in their day-to-day living. These come under several headings: for example, Your Health, Your Home, Daily Activities. AskSARA is easy to use and widely accessible regardless of age or ability. It can be used with little or no training and easily understood without assistance from a professional carer.
AskSARA is hosted by the Disabled Living Foundation and is now available with information localised for people in Cambridgeshire.
Cambridgeshire's new adult social care website,

provides information about adult social care in Cambridgeshire.
The aim is to ensure that everyone living in Cambridgeshire and looking for information about adult social care has access to information at a time and in a format that suits them.
Individuals seeking social care information for the first time, service users and carers will all be able to access Your Life, Your Choice in places such as libraries and Citizen's Advice Hubs or directly via the website.
Disability Cambridgeshire works with forums of disabled people and their carers around the county. These groups provide members with social contact, support and an opportunity to campaign and work together.

Go For It - a handbook for young disabled people living in Cambridgeshire. This book is for you if you're aged somewhere between 14 and 20. It's about your move into adult life. It's about having fun too, and about coping when you're having problems.
